Notification on Species of Plants and Animals which are on the verge of extinction in the Union Territory of Diu and Daman.

This Notification is issued in accordance with the Section 38 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
The Notification lists out threatened species of Animals in the Union Territory of Diu and Daman which are on the verge of extinction and prohibits or regulates collection thereof and spells out appropriate steps to rehabilitate and preserve the species.
The collection of the species of animals listed in the Notification shall be prohibited, except with the approval of the Administration of the Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli only for the purposes mentioned below: ( a) scientific research; (b) herbarium and museum of scientific and academic institutions; ( c) propagation; and (d) any other scientific investigation.
