Abstract
The scheme of National Livestock Mission (NLM) is being implemented in India since the financial year 2014-15. However, in view of the present need of the sector, the NLM scheme has been revised and realigned from financial year 2021-22 by way of these Guidelines. The NLM objectives are laid down, which include, employment generation, entrepreneurship development, increase in per animal productivity, increased production of meat, goat milk, egg and wool etc. The realigned NLM has three sub-missions: (a) Sub-mission on Breed Development of Livestock and Poultry; (b) Sub-mission on Feed and Fodder Development; and (c) Sub Mission on Innovation and Extension. The institutional structure and implementation framework are provided. The eligibility criteria for the entrepreneurs and eligible entities to avail benefit under the NLM and the procedure for application is included. The activities to be undertaken under each of the three sub-missions is laid down with information such as eligibility, funding pattern, implementing authorities and other requirements for each of the activities.
