Abstract
This Act provides for establishment of ground water authority for management of ground water resources in Rajasthan. The Act establishes the Rajasthan Ground Water (Conservation and Management) Authority (Authority) and makes provisions for its management and governance. The Ground Water Department shall prepare the State Ground Water Conservation and Management Plan and there shall be a District Ground Water Conservation and Management Committee in each district of the state, which shall prepare a District Ground Water Conservation and Management Plan for their respective districts. The powers, functions and duties of the Authority are laid down, this includes, laying down conditions and requirements for operation of existing ground water extracting structures and their regularization, restrictions on the utilization of ground water, specifying areas in which the ground water users shall not be carried out or shall be carried out subject to certain conditions and safeguards, registration of drilling rigs with the authority, and water conservation and ground water recharge. The Authority shall recommend to the Government, a tariff for all uses of ground water.

An Act to establish the Rajasthan Ground Water (Conservation and Management) Authority for conservation and management of ground water resources within the State of Rajasthan for ensuring the judicious, equitable and sustainable utilization of ground water resources through management, regulation thereof, fix the rates for use of ground water abstraction and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
