Abstract
The present Rules provide for the application to the Central Zoo Authority in order of being granted recognition as a zoo in India, the classification of zoos on the basis of acreage, number of animal and varieties, and number of visitors per year. Provisions are made on animal health, hygiene, feeding and prevention of cruelty, their keeping in as natural a habitat as their original one, the veterinary facilities and visitors requirements. In the Appendix are listed the form to fulfil in order to be granted recognition from the appointed authorities, technical listings for cages and enclosures, feeding and watering.
