Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to control the rubber plantation industry in the country.
The Act provides for the establishment of the Rubber Board and for its functions which shall include: the development of the rubber industry by devising suitable promotional measures; undertake scientific, technological and economic research; train students in improved methods of planting, cultivation, etc.; the supply of technical advice to rubber growers. The Board shall register all persons who own land planted with rubber plants, and shall grant licences for planting or replanting rubber.
The Act further empowers the Central Government to make provisions for the following: prohibiting, restricting or otherwise controlling the import or export of rubber; fixing maximum and minimum prices for sale of rubber; imposing new rubber levies; and making rules to carry out the purposes of this Act.
