Abstract
This Act, consisting of 145 sections divided into fifteen Chapters and completed by two Schedules, aims to make provision for advancing the Public Health of the State of Tamil Nadu, including every foodstuff consumed or used by man, for food, drink, or chewing, and all materials used or admixed in the composition or preparation of such article and also include flavouring, colouring and condiments.
Chapter II deals with the creation and functions of the Public Health Board; Chapter III deals with Water Supply system, including Local authority to provide potable water; Chapter IV establishes Drainage and competent Local authority to maintain public drains (including: freshwater pollution control); Chapter V specifies Sanitary Conveniences; Chapter VI deals with noise pollution and the Abatement of Nuisances; Chapter VII Prevention, Notification and Treatment of Diseases; Chapter VIII Maternity and Child-Welfare; Chapter IX Mosquito control; Chapter X Sanitation and Buildings; Chapter XI Lodging Houses; Chapter XII establishes the Food Control (including the prohibition of sale of unsound food or meat not for human consumption); Chapter XIII deals with Fairs and Festivals; Chapter XIV Finance; Chapter XV establishes Offences and penalties for illegal activities.
