Abstract
This Act provides the State Government with the power to conduct survey of rivers, to appoint Conservators of Rivers, to alter limits of river-beds and to grant permission to any persons intending to undertake any construction or plantation on river beds. Additionally, the Act grants the River Conservators the power to prevent any acts necessary that lead to erosion, breach of embankments or flooding of rivers. Furthermore, the Act provides for penalties for violating the provisions of the Act.
