Targeted Public Distribution System (Control) Amendment Order, 2024.

The Central Government has made this Order to amend the Targeted Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2015 (principal Order). In the principal Order, proviso to sub-clause (2) of clause 1 is omitted. The words fair price shop owner are substituted with fair price shop dealer throughout the principal Order. In clause 2, after sub-clause (l), a new clause (la), defining One Nation One Ration Card plan is added. Sub-clause (20) of clause 4 is amended which requires state governments to report regularly to the central government in respect of ration cards issued, cancelled, updated etc. Further, new sub-clause (21) is added to clause 4 which states that all beneficiaries of ration cards issued under the Food Security Act may avail foodgrains across the country from any fair price shop after biometric authentication under One Nation One Ration Card plan. New sub-clause (11) is added after sub-clause (10) in clause 10, which requires the state governments to ensure inter-State and intra-State portability under One Nation One Ration Card plan, and that sufficient quantity of additional foodgrains is available for distribution to migrant beneficiaries. Sub-clauses (6), (14) and (15) of clause 11 are substituted. The Annex-III of the principal Order is also substituted.
