Abstract
This Act provides for regulation of synthetic chemicals in farming, veterinary drugs and livestock feed, for promotion of organic farming in the state of Uttarakhand. Chapter 2 prohibits the regulatory authority to grant any new license for sale of chemical and synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides in the notified areas of the state. The existing licences are to be cancelled with immediate effect. The grant of any licence for sale of certain veterinary drugs in the state is also prohibited. Further, grant of licences of prohibited livestock feed in notified areas is also prohibited. Chapter 3 contains provisions in respect of procurement of organic certification. Chapter 4 requires certification bodies in the state to be accredited by National Accreditation Body (NAB) and with the Uttarakhand Organic Commodity Board. Provisions for research and training are also laid down. Chapter 5 contains the punishment for violation of provisions of the Act.
