Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 2024 (No. 5 of 2024).

This Act further amends the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 (principal Act). Sections 4 and 5 of the principal Act are amended. The proviso to section 25 is substituted. A new section 27A is added after section 27 of the principal Act, which allows the central government to issue guidelines for grant, refusal or cancellation of consent by any State Pollution Control Board for establishment of any industry, operation or process, or treatment and disposal system. Section 41 is substituted and a new section 41A is added. Sections 43 and 44 are substituted and section 45 is omitted. Further, new sections 45A to 45E are added. Section 48 is substituted and sections 49, 63 and 64 are amended.
