Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1975.

These Rules are enacted in exercise of the powers conferred by section 63 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 (6 of 1974) by the Central Government after consultation with Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution.
The text consists of 33 rules divided into 11 Chapters: Preliminary (I); Terms and Conditions of Service of the Members of the Central Board and of Committees of Central Board (II); Powers and Duties of the Chairman and Member Secretary and Appointments of Officers and Employees (III); Temporary Association of Persons with Central Board (IV); Consulting Engineer (V); Budget of the Central Board VI); Annual Report of the Central Board (VII); Account of the Central Board (VIIII); Report of Central Board Analyst [And the Qualifications of Analysts] (IX); Central Water Laboratory (X); Powers and Functions of the Central Board in Relation to Union Territories (XI).
For assisting the Central Board in the performance of its functions, the Board may appoint a consulting engineer to the Board for a specified period not exceeding four months. The Central Water Laboratory shall cause to be analysed any samples of water, sewage or trade effluent received by it from any officer authorized by the Central Board for the purpose, and the findings shall be recorded in triplicate in Form XI.
