Abstract
The Present Act amends section 2 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972; Sections 3, 4 and 5A to %C, 8,11 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927. It institutes the National Board for Wild Life and of the State Board for Wild Life and it rules for the declaration of Sanctuary. Detailed provisions are made on zoo, community management, hunting, offences and penalties and Appellate Courts, amending several other Sections of the principal enactment.

Consolidated version of Act No. 53 of 1972 as amended last by Act No. 44 of 1991.the long title of Act No. 53 of 1972 is thereby amended as follows: An Act to provide for the protection of wild animals, birds and plants and for matters connected therewith or ancillary or incidental thereto with a view to ensuring the ecological and environmental security of the country.
