Abstract
The Act aims to reduce environmental degradation and increase the sustainable use of natural resources through training of various groups of population. This Act consists of a Foreword and three chapters and relevant sub-divided Parts: History and Definitions (I); Types of Education (II); Annex (III).
In particular, the Act emphasize two principles: firstly, the environmental education should be for all population and no one should be exempt from these training courses; secondly, there is no specific organization responsible for these training courses but each educational institution is responsible to increase the environmental education in the scope of its activities. Accordingly, environmental education, or in other words, sustainable development education, includes all official, unofficial education as well as indirect education.
Official education includes school training, from pre-school to high education at universities, through books, audio-visual products, TV series and festivals. Unofficial education encompasses any stable relations with the aim of education outside the education system and mainly targets policy makers and high-level managers. Unofficial education also targets two main groups of producers, including industries, agricultural sector and service sector, and consumers who have the main role in sustainable use of natural resources. Indirect education, which targets all different groups of people in the society, mainly includes training programs from various types of media, it means audio media, visual media and print media.
