Abstract
The management plan was developed through a joint initiative by Iran’s Department of Environment and the UNDP (2004-2012), emphasizing an ecosystem-based approach that balances environmental conservation with local socio-economic needs. Key objectives include biodiversity conservation by monitoring species like waterfowl and otters, water quality management through regular assessments of groundwater and lake conditions, and community engagement to promote sustainable livelihoods and public awareness. The vision for Lake Parishan is to restore its rich biodiversity, scenic landscape, and high water quality to support a healthy and prosperous local community within 25 years. The goal is to implement an ecosystem-based approach to ensure the lake's restoration and sustainability for current and future generations. The plan consists of 8 Parts and 3 Annexes.
