Abstract
The Act, which consists of a single article, establishes the High Council of Oceanography.
The main goals of the High Council include achievement to the one principled policy regarding the Oceanography, harmonization of various technical, national and international activities, gathering information, research and investigation as well as extraction of the resources of the Persian Gulf, Oman Sea and Caspian Sea.
In order to coordinate relevant technical and research activities, the Council shall have the following seven Specialized Committees, based in various ministries and institutions: I. Committee on Dynamic Physical Oceanography of Oceans and Marine Meteorology (in National Meteorological Organization); II. Committee on Marine Services, Transportation and Law of the Sea (in Ports and Maritime Organization); III. Committee on Ocean Engineering and Marine Surveyors (in Oil Ministry); IV. Committee on Protection of Marine Environment and Control of Marine Pollution (in Department of Environment); V. Committee on Living Marine Resources (in National Fishery Company); VI. Committee on Non-living Marine Resources (in Geology organization); VII. Committee on Education and Culture of Oceanography (in Ministry of Culture and Higher Education).
The Chairman of the High Council of Oceanography is the Minister of Road and Urban Development and its secretariat is located in the National Meteorological Organization. The National Committee of Oceanography which is dependent to the National Committee of UNESCO will continue to work.
