Abstract
This Act concerns territorial waters and the EEZ in waters in southern parts of Iran. The width of the territorial sea is twelve nautical miles measured from the baseline. Article 3 refers to Decree No. 2/250-67 of July, 1973 which establishes the baselines from which the territorial sea is measured. If no baseline is declared the baseline shall be the low-tide line along the shore. Article 4 provides for boundaries in the case of territorial waters of adjacent countries which would overlap with Iranian waters. Articles 5 to 11 provide for innocent passing and jurisdiction of Iran. The remaining articles deal, inter alia, with a contiguous zone of 24 nautical miles measured from the baseline, the EEZ and Continental Shelf and the preservation of the environment and natural resources.
