Abstract
The Operational Health, Safety, and Hygiene Guidelines for Waste Management Executing Personnel aim to ensure the safety and health of waste management workers as per Article 5 of the Waste Management Law. The guidelines cover five main areas: an explanatory operational program, required indicators, a scoring table, a program checklist, and a monitoring checklist. Specific objectives include addressing vulnerable groups, managing various waste types in hospitals, health centers, government offices, and private companies, and organising waste from personal protective equipment and medical facilities. Key strategies include training personnel, ensuring facility compliance, preparing for emergencies involving hazardous waste, and conducting annual program evaluations. The activities include identifying and assessing hygiene risks; identifying and recording the units and new employees involved in waste collection, segregation, transportation, recycling, processing, and disposal in the inspection system; and developing a detailed operational plan.
