The Legislation is the Statute of the National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage. The Act consists of 33 articles, divided into 5 chapters; General Provisions and History (I); Duties and Authorities (II); Structure (III); Members of the Committee and Methods of Selection (IV); Meetings of the Committee (V).
The main objectives and duties of the Committee include increase in knowledge and techniques regarding irrigation and drainage, flood control and sediment, coordination with International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), international exchange of scientific information and professional techniques, support of relevant research and data collection. The Committee consists of a Supreme Council as an executive board, Technical Committees and a Secretariat. The Technical Committees comprises of three committee; Research and Development Committee, Operation Committee and Construction and Exploitation Committee.
