Act No. 75 on the Tourist Destinations Development Fund.

The objective of the present Act is to promote the development, maintenance and protection of tourist attractions and tourist routes throughout the country and to support the development of tourism as an important and sustainable pillar of the Icelandic economy. It is also the goal of this Act to promote a more even distribution of tourists throughout the country and support regional development. The Fund should finance the construction of tourist attractions and tourist routes owned or managed by municipalities and private parties in accordance with Article 1. It can also fund construction projects related to the safety of tourists, nature conservation and the development, maintenance and protection of structures.
