Abstract
The purpose of the present Regulation, issued by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, is to ensure that zoonoses and pathogens and their resistance to antibiotics are properly monitored and a proper epidemiological investigation is carried out in cases of foodborne illnesses for gathering the necessary information to assess their prevalence and origin. The Regulation contains 12 articles divided into the following chapters: I. Introductory provisions; II. Monitoring of zoonoses and pathogens; III. Antibiotic resistance; IV. Outbreak of food borne diseases; V. Exchange of information; VI. Laboratories; VII. Legal basis and entry into force. The Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority shall be responsible for the implementation and supervision of the provisions of this regulation.
