Regulation No. 1170/2013 on electronic message transmission, provision of information, and electronic submission of catch logbooks by foreign fishing vessels in Iceland’s exclusive economic zone.

This Regulation establishes electronic reporting duties for foreign fishing vessels authorised to fish in Iceland’s exclusive economic zone. It requires vessels to use VMS/electronic communication equipment and to submit standardised reports on entry, catch and activities, port arrival, port departure, end of fishing, and passage through control points. It also sets deadlines, correction/cancellation rules, acknowledgement procedures, equipment-failure rules, and prohibits transhipment in Icelandic waters except in specified port areas under NEAFC rules. The annexes specify the report codes, data fields, vessel activity codes, and that the regime applies to Norwegian and Faroese fishing vessels under relevant bilateral arrangements.
