Regulation No. 1294/2014 on the provision of food information to consumers.

This regulation implements EU/EEA rules on food information to consumers in Iceland, especially Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011. It sets national requirements on food labelling language, net quantity, storage conditions for chilled and frozen foods, information for non-prepacked foods, production lot marking, origin labelling for fresh vegetables, D-vitamin declarations, and sale of foods past their minimum durability date. It also assigns supervision to the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority and municipal health committees, provides enforcement measures and penalties, and repeals earlier Icelandic rules on food labelling, nutrition labelling, plant sterols, quinine and caffeine labelling.
