Regulation
Abstract
This regulation governs blue whiting fishing by Icelandic vessels within Icelandic waters, Faroese waters, and the NEAFC regulatory area. It limits fishing to vessels holding blue whiting quotas, establishes rules on quota transfers and overfishing allowances, and imposes operational requirements relating to fishing areas, bycatch reduction equipment, vessel monitoring systems, reporting obligations, landing procedures, and scientific sampling of catches. The regulation also creates closed fishing zones, regulates landings in Icelandic and foreign ports under NEAFC and Faroese rules, and requires vessels to transmit location data and catch information to Icelandic authorities. In addition, it establishes enforcement provisions and repeals earlier regulations concerning blue whiting fishing restrictions and trawling on Þórsbanki.
