Regulation No. 21/1983 on the granting of authorisation to practise veterinary medicine.

This Regulation sets out the conditions for obtaining authorisation to practise veterinary medicine in Iceland, requiring applicants with recognised veterinary qualifications to apply to the Ministry and complete supervised practical work, including around six weeks with district veterinarians and four weeks at an approved institution. Applicants must also demonstrate knowledge of Icelandic livestock diseases and key veterinary laws and regulations, with their competence assessed by a three-veterinarian committee before authorisation is granted.
