Abstract
This regulation governs mackerel fishing by Icelandic vessels within Icelandic fisheries jurisdiction, the NEAFC regulatory area, and the waters around Svalbard. It establishes quota and licensing rules, divides mackerel quotas into A and B categories with restrictions on quota transfers, and sets technical and operational requirements for fishing vessels, including gear restrictions, monitoring equipment, catch sampling, reporting obligations, and landing procedures. The regulation also imposes spatial restrictions on trawl fishing, prohibits mackerel net fishing, requires scientific sampling for stock monitoring, and regulates landings in domestic and foreign ports under NEAFC and Norwegian rules.
