Abstract
The present Regulation applies to the collection of information on the sale and use of antimicrobial drugs for animals. The Regulation also applies to restrictions on the use of antimicrobial drugs for animals that are reserved for the treatment of infections in humans and the criteria that apply to such use. Those authorized for the wholesale of drugs according to the Medicinal Products Act No. 100/2020 or the Veterinary Medicinal Products Act No. 14/2022 shall submit information on the sale of all types of antimicrobial drugs for use in animals to the Icelandic Medicines Agency, which in turn shall submit the information to the European Medicines Agency. Veterinarians, owners, and/or managers of animals shall collect and submit information on the use of antimicrobial drugs for each animal species to the Food and Veterinary Authority, which in turn shall submit the information to the European Medicines Agency. It is prohibited, without exception, to administer to animals any antimicrobial drugs or classes of antimicrobial drugs, as specified in the Annex to this Regulation.
