Abstract
This regulation establishes rules on the digital recording and submission of catch information by Icelandic vessels, both inside and outside Icelandic fishing jurisdiction. It requires captains of vessels with commercial fishing permits or special fishing permits to record detailed catch data, such as vessel identity, fishing gear, location, species and quantities caught, fishing dates, landing port, seabirds and marine mammals caught, released catch, and gear deployment times, and submit it digitally to the Icelandic Directorate of Fisheries before the end of the fishing trip. The information is used for scientific purposes, fisheries management, and supervision by relevant authorities, while generally remaining confidential. The regulation also sets procedures for software or service failures, requires access for inspectors, and applies to commercial harvesting of marine vegetation.
