Abstract
This Regulation governs the operation of Icelandic fishing associations (veiðifélög) under the Salmon and Trout Fishing Act No. 61/2006. It sets rules on compulsory membership for fishing-right holders, the territorial scope of associations, founding meetings, statutes, boards, voting, annual and extraordinary meetings, departments within associations, conflict-of-interest and procedural rules, access to documents, profit/allocation registers, costs, reporting duties to the Directorate of Fisheries (Fiskistofa), and appeal mechanisms. Its main purpose is to ensure that fishing rights within an association area are managed collectively, transparently and sustainably, including the allocation of fishing benefits among members and the enforcement of fishing-management rules.
