Abstract
This Regulation governs arðskrár — registers determining how fishing catches or fishing income are allocated among properties, legal persons or individuals holding fishing rights within the area of a fishing association. It requires fishing associations to prepare such registers, showing the total distributable units and each property’s share, and sets rules for approval by members, assessment procedures where a register is disputed or not approved, and later revision, normally after eight years. The assessment must consider factors such as access to net and rod fishing, shoreline length, water volume and bottom area, spawning and nursery conditions, catch statistics, tributaries, fish ladders, stocking, and works affecting fishing sites. Decisions of the assessment committee must be reasoned and written, may be challenged in court within six months, and the final register must be confirmed by Fiskistofa and published in the B-section of the Government Gazette.
