Abstract
This regulation prohibits fishing for all eel species in Iceland, including in the sea, rivers, and lakes, except under a special permit from the Directorate of Fisheries for limited personal-consumption fishing. It requires any eel caught during salmon or trout fishing to be released, bans all sale and marketing of Icelandic eel and eel products, sets application and reporting rules for personal-use permits, prohibits transfer of permits, allows permits to be restricted or revoked, and establishes supervision and penalties for violations.
