Abstract
This regulation establishes fisheries monitoring and enforcement rules for Icelandic vessels operating in the NAFO Convention Area (the Nort-hwest Atlantic high seas fisheries management area), requiring special fishing permits, satellite vessel monitoring, electronic catch and processing logs, advance entry/exit and daily catch reporting, onboard inspections by NAFO member-state inspectors, and in many cases onboard fisheries observers. It also includes measures to protect vulnerable marine ecosystems such as corals and sponges, rules on bycatch and catch labelling, and notification obligations for landings in foreign ports, with violations subject to penalties under Icelandic fisheries law.
