Abstract
This regulation prohibits direct fishing for porbeagle, basking shark, and Greenland shark within Iceland’s fishing jurisdiction. If any of these species are caught as bycatch, living specimens must be released immediately; any catch that is landed must be sold through an approved seafood auction and may be subject to a special fee for unlawful catch. The regulation also requires captains to record relevant bycatch details in the catch log and provides for proceedings and penalties for violations.
