Abstract
This Regulation sets rules for the marking of fishing gear within Iceland’s fishing jurisdiction, requiring stationary gear, trawling gear and purse seines to be clearly marked with the vessel’s registration or IMO number. It specifies marking requirements for buoys, flags, nets, traps, trawls and purse seines, including AIS location markers for gear set deeper than 400 metres. It also requires fishers to search for and retrieve lost gear, report unrecovered gear to the Icelandic Coast Guard and the Directorate of Fisheries, and record the loss in the vessel’s catch logbook.
