Abstract
This regulation defines lighter food-law obligations for very small-scale, occasional food activities and for primary producers supplying small quantities of certain foods directly to consumers or nearby retail businesses. It covers, among other things, small-scale plant products, limited direct egg supply, certain unprocessed animal/fish products, and reindeer meat under specific conditions. These operators generally do not need ordinary food-production licences or routine food inspections, but they must still ensure that food is safe, hygienically handled, not misleadingly marketed, traceable where appropriate, and withdrawn or recalled if unsafe; authorities may intervene when necessary, and violations may lead to penalties under Icelandic food law.
