Regulation No. 620/2012 on restrictions on fishing by Icelandic vessels for shared stocks in the jurisdiction of other states.

This regulation prohibits Icelandic vessels from fishing shared fish stocks in the jurisdiction of other states without a special permit from the Directorate of Fisheries. It applies to stocks such as Greenland halibut, blue whiting, capelin, mackerel, Norwegian-Icelandic herring, and oceanic redfish, and permits may only be granted where an agreement exists on the use of the relevant stock and access to the other state’s waters. Violations are subject to penalties under Icelandic legislation on fisheries outside Icelandic jurisdiction.
