Abstract
This regulation governs fishing for whelk using traps within Iceland’s fisheries jurisdiction. It requires a special permit from the Directorate of Fisheries, limits fishing for human consumption to areas inspected by MAST, divides the Breiðafjörður fishing area into northern and southern zones, sets a minimum shell height of 50 mm, and establishes rules on marking, tending, and recovering traps. It also regulates permitted gear on board, weighing and registration of catches, licence suspension, and penalties for violations.
