Abstract
This regulation establishes the Environmental Fund for Marine Cage Aquaculture as a state-owned fund under the fisheries minister, with the objective of minimising the environmental impacts of marine cage aquaculture. It sets out the fund’s role, governance, financing, annual fees payable by aquaculture licence holders, grant procedures, assessment criteria, payment and monitoring rules, transparency requirements, and the treatment of confidential information. The fund may finance research, carrying-capacity assessments, monitoring, and other environmental projects, and may also compensate fishing-right holders for certain losses or damage not attributable to a specific aquaculture facility.
