Regulation No. 964/2019 on shrimp fishing.

This regulation governs shrimp fishing within Iceland’s fisheries jurisdiction and provides that shrimp fishing is prohibited except for vessels holding catch quotas for the relevant fishing area. It sets technical rules for shrimp trawls, including minimum mesh sizes, codend design, restrictions on devices that close or obstruct mesh openings, and mandatory use of sorting grids to reduce bycatch of juvenile fish, with specific grid-spacing rules for offshore and inshore shrimp fisheries. The regulation distinguishes between offshore shrimp fishing, shrimp fishing on Dohrnbanki, and inshore shrimp fishing, setting area closures, vessel-size limits, special reporting requirements, automatic vessel-position reporting for Dohrnbanki, and detailed fishing areas by coordinates.
