Decree Mipaaf N. 341750 concerning the National quality system for animal welfare.

This Decree establishes the discipline for membership to the Quality System for animal wellbeing (Sistema di qualità nazionale per il benessere animale - SQNBA) established under article 224bis of Decree-Law No. 34/2020; membership is on a voluntary basis and membership right is guaranteed to all operators in the Member States of the European Union. Membership to the SQNBA ensures compliance to higher animal health and welfare requirements than those of the relevant European and national standards. The Decree provides for standards qualifying the management of the process breeding of animals intended for food production by species and orientation production and farming method, including establishments' emissions management. The Decree also regulates the issuing of certification of compliance with the requirements relating to SQNBA. To ensure high consumer protection standards, the Decree establishes as well production and marketing requirements for animals, products of primary production, as well as food products, with information regarding the animal welfare, biosecurity on farms and veterinary medicine.
