Abstract
The President of the Region has adopted this Decree on the basis of the powers conferred to him under article 15 of Act No. 33 of 1997. The Regional Hunting Plan hereby laid down entirely replaces the Plan that had been approved for the period 1998-2002. This new Plan aims at putting Regional Act No. 33 of 1997 in line with the judgement of the Constitutional Court No. 4 of 10 January 2000. The new version of the Regional Hunting Plan reasserts the purposes of protection of wildlife and restoration of habitats. The Plan provides for the subdivision of the regional territory into specific territorial hunting areas. It also defines those agricultural and silvipastoral areas which shall be available for hunting activities. Further, the Plan specifies the measures to be implemented to preserve and improve the environment, such as progressive reduction of the use of phytosanitary products in agriculture and afforestation initiatives. Further provisions regard those species that may be hunted, those species which shall be subject to particular protective measures (migratory bird species, game species, etc.) and repopulation. The Regional Observatory of Fauna shall carry out the inventory of wildlife species.
