Abstract
The present Decree regulates the production, trade and sale of flavourings and substances used for the production of flavourings. As a general purity standard, the content of certain hazardous substances or lead, mercury and arsenic must not exceed the limits established in annex II. Purity standards specific to the flavourings listed in article 2 are established in annex III. Annexes VII and VIII concern, respectively, the list of, and the purity standards for, artificial flavourings. On the basis of the destination of the product, the Decree establishes different information to be provided in the label. More specific and detailed information regarding the expiry date, the preservation modalities, the instructions for use, etc. are required for the products destined to the final consumer, whereas information on technical characteristics are required for the products not destined to the final consumer. The present Decree does not apply to flavourings destined to other countries.
