Legislative Decree No. 153 implementing Act No. 38 of 7 March 2003 as regards marine fisheries.

Pursuant to the general principles laid down in Act No. 38 of 2003, this Legislative Decree aims at the rationalization of the system and rules which govern controls in the field of marine commercial fisheries (even if it not explicitly mentioned in the Legislative Decree, the definition includes as well small-scale artisanal fisheries). This rationalization shall be implemented in accordance with the principles of sustainable development and responsible fisheries. Article 2 concerns the Register of Marine Fishermen. Further provisions regard the issue of the fishing licence (art. 4), the equipment required on board (art. 5), incidental catch of species under the minimum size established (art. 6), surveillance (art. 7). The scope does not include sport fishing.
