In compliance with the rules laid down in Directive 2002/11/EC, this Ministerial Decree lays down provisions governing the placing on the market of material intended for the propagation of the vine. The application scope does not cover propagating material destined to be exported to third countries. Article 3 provides for the establishment of the National Service for Vine Certification, under the Ministry of Agriculture. Only firms duly registered, according to Legislative Decree No. 536 of 1992, are allowed to produce vines and their propagating materials (art. 7). The National Register of Vine Varieties is set up pursuant to article 10. Further provisions regard checks to be performed by official personnel (arts. 11-13). Annex I lays down rules concerning cultivation, whereas Annex II sets out particular measures applicable to propagating materials. Annexes III and IV concern packaging and labelling requirements respectively.
