Abstract
This Ministerial Decree makes provision for the enforcement of the closed season for 1998. The Decree applies to trawling net and mid-water floating trawl fishing. The fishing season will be closed from 20 July to 2 September for the fishing vessels registered in the maritime districts of Trieste and Brindisi, from 14 September to 28 October for those registered in the maritime districts of the Tyrrhenian and Ionic Seas, whilst the fishing vessels registered in the maritime district of Gallipoli and Imperia can choose a period between 14 September and 28 October.
During the closed season the fishing vessels may carry out routine and extraordinary maintenance works and the renewal of the security certifications and therefore reach the maintenance location, if all fishing equipment are unloaded. During the months following the closed season fishing activities in the Adriatic marine districts are banned on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, those of Tyrrhenian and Ionic Seas marine districts on Saturdays and Sundays. Exceptions may be made for fishing vessels authorized for seasonal and set fishing. Under article 9 are established the closed fishing areas where commercial and for sports purposes fishing is also forbidden.
At the end of the season a declaration certifying the compliance with the provisions of the Decree shall be released for each fishing vessels by the appropriate authority, according to the form contained in Annex A. (10 articles and 1 annex).
