Provincial Act No. 4 to support the agricultural economy and to regulate organic agriculture as well as presentation of non genetically modified products

This Provincial Act is composed of two Titles. Title I is entirely devoted to financial measures to be applied in the agricultural sector, giving particular regard to the development and enhancement of the economy of less favoured mountain areas. The overall objectives pursued are the following: (a) improvement of life quality of rural populations; (b) sustainable development of agricultural activities; (c) environmental protection and safeguarding of rural and mountain areas; and (d) strenghtening of cooperation and associations in the agricultural field. Article 2 identifies the beneficiaries of the financial measures provided for in this Act. Chapter III of Title I sets out a special regime devoted to less favoured agricultural areas.
Title II regulates organic production (Chapter I) and makes rules concerning the presentation of products which have not been modified through genetic manipulation (Chapter II). The Autonomous Province of Trento shall be in charge of the verification of compliance with the provisions laid down in Regulation (EEC) No. 2092/91 on organic production of agricultural products. Control organisms authorized by the Autonomous Province, and subjected to its surveillance, shall implement the control system thereto.
