Regional Act No. 10 of 1997 on the identification of ATO's (Optimal Territorial Areas) and on the integrated management of water resources, implementing Law No. 36 of 1994.

The Calabria Region promotes a general management policy for the conservation of water resources. The Law establishes competencies of Regions, Provinces and Mountain Communities. Under Title II are set out detailed provisions for wastewater treatment and licences. Title III provides for the identification of ATOs and for their management and competencies. Title IV for the establishment of plants for the transportation of water, energy and telecommunications. The Regional Council provides for the modifications and integration of the ATOs and local entities will cooperate through Co operation Conventions and Consortia. (66 Articles)
