Abstract
The Regional Act regulates the gathering, cultivation and placing on the market of fresh and conserved truffles, in compliance with the legislative framework laid down in Act No. 752 of 16 December 1985. The Act consists of 18 articles. Article 2 concerns subsidies that may be granted by the Regional Council with a view to improving, developing and encouraging the cultivation of truffles in Piemonte. The cultivated and controlled truffle areas referred to in article 3 of Act No. 752 of 1985 shall be recognized by the competent Provinces. The recognition has a duration of five years (art. 3, par. 2). Article 4 regards voluntary consortia. Truffles may be collected only upon authorization issued by the competent Province under certain circumstances (art. 5). Article 9 specifies the periods during which truffle gathering is permitted. The Regional Council shall establish a particular identification mark for truffles produced in the Piemonte Region (art. 12). Further provisions concern the marketing of fresh truffles as well as truffle-based products, taking into particular account the information to be provided in the labels (art. 13 and 14). Article 15 relates to inspection and penalties to be applied in case of violation of the Act.
