Abstract
This Regional Act aims at protecting genetic resources, the quality of crops and agricultural products as well as human health, animal health and the environment against adverse effects that may arise out of the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). These provisions prohibit the use and cultivation of GMOs throughout the regional territory. However, they stipulate that the release of GMOs for experimentation purposes may be authorized under certain conditions. Moreover, the Act sets up the Committee for the Protection of Biodiversity and Agricultural Production (art. 9). In case of infringement, the penalties laid down in article 11 shall be applied.
