Regional Act No. 24 on the protection of fish population and regulating fishing in internal and maritime waters of Basilicata Region.

The purposes of this Act are the protection of fish population and the regulation of fishing activities in internal and marine waters within the Basilicata Region in the respect of safeguard, conservation and biological and aquatic rebalancing principles. For the purposes of this Act, are considered internal waters fresh and brackish waters. In terms of Article 4 the Regional fisheries plan is approved, Article 5 provides for the regional Fish Card which will describe the physical and biological characteristics of waters and will establish the criteria for the conservation and repopulating activities. The Basilicata Region promotes the formation of fishermen's associations and will identify water basins. Fishing activities are regulated under Article 15 and protection zones are identified. Further the Act contains specific provisions on fishing licence and checks that will be performed on fishing activities. This Act also regards fishing for sports commercial and scientific purposes.
