Regional Act No. 29 creating the integrated water service and determining the optimal territorial areas to implement Act No. 36 of 5 January 1994.

This Regional Act provides for the establishment, the arrangement and the management of the integrated water service, in accordance with the framework laid down in Act No. 36 of 5 January 1994. It defines the optimal territorial areas falling within the mentioned integrated water service as well as the forms of cooperation to be undertaken by local entities. The Regional Council shall exercise functions related to planning, programming, formulation of directives to comply with and inspections to be carried out. Article 3 delineates one only optimal territorial area (as per article 8, paragraph 1 of Act No. 36 of 1994) which covers the whole regional territory. The authority referred to in article 5 shall be in charge of the arrangement and management of such area (art. 7). An agreement between the authority, on the one hand, and the companies engaged in the management of the integrated water service, on the other hand, shall regulate their relationship.
